Study Buddies - Why you need them
By: Fred, but mainly Emma :-)
I am known to have a system, and a crucial part of it is ensuring you have study buddies.
Studying online can sometimes feel isolating, and we don’t want that.
Although my interactive online course provides comprehensive support through various means, having a study buddy offers a whole other layer.
Students agree that combining my support and study buddies significantly enhances their learning experience and exam preparation.
And don’t we want to put the odds in your favour? So don’t delay!
Here are some of the benefits:
Common Goals: Sharing the same objectives keeps everyone on track.
Motivation: Study buddies can inspire and energise each other.
Accountability: Having someone to answer to helps maintain discipline.
Teaching each other: Explaining concepts to others is one of the best ways to learn.
Learn from each other: Gain new insights and perspectives.
Enjoyable study sessions: Studying becomes more fun with company.
⚠️ TALKING OUT LOUD! – Crucial for oral exam preparation.
“There is an old African saying - If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go with a group. And if you go with a helpful group, you enjoy the journey”
How do I organise your study buddy (or buddies)?
❶ In my Webinars, I highlight the importance of having a study buddy and make introductions.
❷ Monitor you and make groups.
❸ Share my Google Sheet “Online exam bookings - make a buddy to study with”.
❹ Within my Google Sheet; you add your name, contact details, location/time zone, how many sections you have completed within the subscription and exam date.
❺ Then you start contacting other like-minded students and practice, practice, practice!
But it doesn’t stop there
To ensure your buddy study sessions are efficient and effective, I provide the following additional resources:
Bouyage slides – 29 pages
Lights – 221 pages
Situations – 60 pages
Breakdown of past papers (up to date)
When should you start?
4- 6 weeks before your exam date
How long do I suggest you study with a study buddy for?
2 hours a day
Don’t have a fear of reaching out
I get it; this is daunting, and sometimes it feels easier to go it alone. But remember, who do you think is also worried and nervous……your new study buddy!
And sorry, I have to say it, it’s just too obvious – “we are all in the same boat.”
Extra benefit: You will also find your study buddies will become your friends for life.
